From Farm and Fleece to Wearable Art and Fashion
Welcome to Samspun. Explore and Enjoy.
SamSpun was created in 1992 with the inspiration of love of spinning, knitting, colours and a flock of beautiful Coopworth sheep. I live on a small farm in the "suburbs" of Paw Paw, West Virginia where we grow gardens, raise sheep and children, and play traditional fiddle music.
Most of my designs are created with wool from my flock. Using our fleece, Gurdy Run Woolen Mill spins yarn to my specifications. I use this 100% West Virginia yarn to produce sweaters designed for comfort, durability and beauty. Choosing colours and buttons is complete whimsy, as the mood strikes, making each sweater one of a kind styling. Hats, "Kits-to-Knit" and yarns are also created with this whimsy.
If you'd like to meet me and see my work, I can be found every year at the The Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival , and in September, come see me at the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival held in Berryville, Virginia. Additionally, my work can be found at the Mountain Laurel Gallery in downtown Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
Thank you for visiting!
